Gentleman Jim

Mike never liked going to the dentist (who does?), but his dental visits were made a little bit easier since his dentist was a former Red Sox player and Cy Young award-winning pitcher. After his baseball career ended, Jim Lonborg went to dental school and eventually settled in Scituate. Mike loved getting to talk baseball with Dr. Jim during his appointments, and also loved asking people if their dentist won the 1967 Cy Young award. Dr. Jim has always been willing to sign memorabilia, so when I approached him a few weeks ago about signing some baseballs for next Monday's Mike Coyne Charity Golf Tournament, he didn't hesitate for a moment. He truly is "Gentleman Jim."
