On April 3, I worked my last day at The Arbors Assisted Living, and my co-workers had a little going-away party for me. I miss my residents so much, but I have popped in a few times to visit and plan to keep doing so. They have been like family and have helped me through some major transitions.
On April 10, I turned 40 (insert gagging sound here). The day didn't start out too well, but it ended with a great dinner and relaxation.

On April 11, Mark and I attended the last-ever regular-season home game of the New York Islanders. As of next fall, the Islanders will begin their new residence at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn.

On the afternoon of April 24, Mark and I exchanged vows in a private wedding ceremony at Northport Harbor. We celebrated with family and a few close friends the following afternoon with an intimate luncheon. The next morning, we were off to Las Vegas for a short but exciting honeymoon (which included a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon!).

May 16 brought the Caring for a Cure 5K up in Marshfield, organized by the oncology nurses of Mass General. It was a chance to honor the nurses, and Mike, and introduce Mark to some more family and friends. Mom S. and Nana even made the road trip with us (that Nana sure was a trooper!).

May 31 marked the 8th Annual Young Widows and Widowers Walk (my third year). Widows/widowers who are in their first year and those many years post loss came together for support and family fun. And for those of us who have been blessed with new relationships, we showed the others that there is hope for happiness after a terrible loss.
