On November 7, Portland, Oregon's legal community honored my Uncle Edward. Ed is retiring from the bar at the end of this year, and a gala event was organized to mark the occasion. Mark and I, along with Mom S., Uncle Dennis and Aunt Jan, among others, converged upon Portland to mark the occasion. A celebratory dinner was held at the Sentinel Hotel, where even Portland's mayor, Charlie Hales, was in attendance. It was a wonderful evening, marked with many speeches, including touching tributes from Dennis and my cousin, Mary.
The rest of the weekend included trips to the coast (the Pacific Ocean), family dinners, and a catch-up lunch with my friend Joy and her three daughters.
Despite the grueling trip back on a red-eye flight, the weekend was glorious.
